The urban growth of Tangier, Morocco, negatively affects its natural and social ecosystem. On the one hand, there is a progressive disappearance of the forest and, on the other, limited access to affordable housing. Taking advantage of the potential capital of vegetation, the role of the forest reaffirms itself as an economic and ecological asset. An alternative urban development is proposed, which could mitigate urban growth while preserving natural resources. A new type of governance (ie cooperatives) will manage the land to prevent speculation by proposing new ownership models, while balancing ecology and human activities.
